Last Post 2010.

Well its New Years Eve. We had plans for a fun evening in the community and fireworks at 8pm to bring in 2011. We were planning to capture the evening events on Dawson's new camcorder, he got it for Christmas.
But just before going out for dinner - Dawson yells: I am gonna be sick! GREAT!!!!! So I guess we will pass on the big evening of events. And stay quietly at home, close to the bathroom. Always another day to use the camcorder, but try telling that to a boy who was so excited to use his tonite.
So we will end this blog entry with the sign we made today. Here is hoping everyone has a great 2011.

Merry Christmas

December 24th Day/Christmas Eve.
The day when Dawson tracks Santa on Norad. He just loves that web site. He did spend 1.5 hours at the rink playing shinny/skating, to let out his high level of energy & excitement. He has trouble sleeping on Dec 24th. First he is scared of Santa coming in the house, then he hears reindeer's on the roof, then he questions if he will get what he wants, then he hears Santa putting stuff in his stocking, then he has to run to the washroom and he is afraid to go by himself, etc etc etc and before you know it, the time is 4:30 AM. Yes, he woke up at 4;30am ! I didn't let him get out of bed till 6am. The joys of kids and Christmas.

The following photo should bring back memories for some. The cookie of my childhood. I remember my Mother holding her tree decorating parties and we always used to hang these cookies on the tree, along with a string of Cranberries. I usually don't hang them on my tree but Dawson just loves them, so this year I carried on my mothers tradition. It was a nice walk down memory lane.
Yup -some things never change. As I am hanging cookies on the tree, l am reminded that kids enjoy other things about cookies. I remember being the same way as a kid.

Christmas School Concert

Well this is our last school concert unless we change schools next year. Our school has decided only to have a Christmas concert every 2 years. We are a lucky school as many schools now don't have Christmas concerts anymore. Here is D looking happy and ready to perform. In grade 5 the students get a chance to join hand bells. D rang the smallest bell but had the biggest part.
Even the Principal remarked on how well he played his part.

The grade 5 class sang the song: Your A Mean One Mr. Grinch. We were so proud of Dawson for his participation in the concert this year. It was a wonderful evening.

Back on Track

I wanted to come home and post my many photos of my recent trip. But sometimes life throws you curve balls. The past 4 days since my arrival home have been very hetic and stressful. I am sad about my Grandpa Ort and now I am minus my appendixs. Yes, that is right, I had my first every surgery. I underwent surgery on Sunday night at 9 pm for acute appendicitis. Let me tell you, I was in sooooo much pain. Thank goodness it is now over. I am ready to be healthy. So back to posting photos, look for some at the end of the week. As I am following doctors orders and resting. (Reading everyone else's blogs.)

In Memory of Grandpa Ort

Today is a sad day. Unfortunately we have lost a wonderful family member in my life, Grandpa Ort Geiger. (Ken's Dad.) He passed away November 13/10. He was 80 ish and had been slowly slipping away with old age. I am so glad Dawson & I got to see him in July. I talked to him just before we left for holidays and he was so glad to hear from me! He was always so happy to get a call from us. We used to talk about the weather and he loved to talk with Dawson about how his hockey was going. We even have the hockey puck he sent Dawson in a special place! Grandpa, I will miss you, but never forget you.

Goodbye Snow

Hello Disney! Yes, our "magical day" has finally arrived. We leave tonite for our long awaited trip to Florida. Jam packed with many special events, I will try and blog some photos during the trip however we have no computer access during the first week. So when I find a computer I will jump on and try to post. Happy Halloween everyone.

At Least Someone LOVES this weather.

Yes, our first snowfall! Dawson was quick to eat his breakfast and get ready to play outside. And yes, he is wearing his Dad's gloves. ( We have to buy him new gloves.) I hope he is happy, as it is supposed to be warm the rest of the week, more my type of weather . And of course Wednesday is the big special day. Our magical vacation begins! Oh we are so excited!

The Changing Seasons

I have decided to post these photo for my auntie who is in Greece. She of course on her blog-- posts beautiful photos of towns she has visited and writes of swimming in the sea daily. I thought I should post what it looks like back here, in our little neck of the woods. So here you go Auntie! While you sun bathe on the beach and dodge stingray or jellyfish ( I forget which one?) think of us back home taking care of the changing seasons. I must admit it is pretty here right now, cold some mornings, but pretty!!

Who knew riding the bus would be this much fun.

This photo is not McDonald's talking. It is taken from the second level of our county's new double decker bus! Dawson and I had the pleasure of taking a free ride as the county's transit system had a :Tour the new bus and hot dog BBQ. It was fun. This bus is a pilot project for our county and will run the commuter routes into Edmonton.

PHEW!
Ain't she a beauty! The only other city that has buses like this incorporated into their transit system is Victoria, said the man sitting next me, who I didn't know. So I could be wrong on that fact? As you ride this bus, everyone stares it! Talk about being the center of attention.

It's Back to School

When it comes to Back to School time parents fall into 2 categories. Either happy hence the commercial -"the most wonderful time of the year" or sad. I must admit, I fall into the sad category here. Don't get me wrong, it is exciting for D to meet his old friends and some new ones too. But I always have good summers home with him and it is really lonely for me on the first day at school, when I stay home by myself. Last night we remembered all of our summer events this year. It was such a great summer! A fantastic summer. But now onto a new day!!!. Here is D all decked out for the first day. (That is not an earring, so don't get scared. It is tape on the board.) I wish I could post the first day of kindergarden and then post this picture, I cannot believe how grown up he is looking and acting. Sigh !!!! Well off to get a nice hot chocolate because it is only 12C here!

Our Next Wipe Out Contestant.

I am sure most of you have watched the show wipe out. Well here at our local pool they have the inflatables out for public swim. It really is a hoot to see everyone try their best and fall into the water.

Mr. Photography tried his best at conquering this beast. It was a very difficult one to do. Not to many made it to the end. To top things off, the lifeguard sprays water on it, to make it more slippery.

Ahhh. Good try D!

Camp this Week

Here is D at the U of A curling camp. As you can see by the score board, the game he played was real a nail biter! Overall the camp was excellent. He had a smile on his face the whole time and loved every minute.
He is a sweeper here.
The skip in the next photo. I thought he would like this position. He always calls the play at home when he watches it on tv. And he is very good at it. But he says his favorite position is 3rd. 3rd is a little of both sweeper and skip, and of course thrower!

Baseball Season

The original pitcher to start this game got hurt, so in went my boy. He pitched out to the max (70 pitches) he struck out 6 players. Way to go son!
Waiting to go to bat, he stands with his teammates.
He hit a double here. It was beautiful.
D had a great tourney. He pitched well and played a great game at second base. This is what our weekends are filled with until middle of July.

The May Long Weekend

We were suppposed to be enjoying a ball tournament. However it got rained out. So we took off to Jasper for a night. It was so worth it. We saw tons of wildlife. Here is an Elk with his fuzzy antlers. He was so handsome. Mr. Photography decided to throw in his line at Patricia &Pyramid Lake. Unfortunately no bites. It was so cold. D had to wear mittens while fishing.
This is Mr. Photography's photo. He loved the reflection on the water. He thought it made the photo. It was a cold weekend but so enjoyable.

Long Haired Boy

Here is the new long hair style my son is sporting these days. Getting him to a hair stylist is a fight these days.
This is called hockey hair and many of his buddies at school wear their hair like this. Although it drives me crazy. It was a carnival day at school, that should explain the necklace around his neck. I think he could do without that too. But he got in the spirit of the carnival!

Funny Signs

As were driving to Grande Prairie we came across this sign for a hotel. I read it like this: Hotel Room Special. Go ahead and read the sign in the photo now.
Brent read it as: I would hope the hotel would give you a discount for an "STD" room. I laughed and laughed. Such witty humor he has.

Edmonton Motor Show

With a house full of testosterone you probably knew we would end up here before long. Attending the car show was fun for all. Here is Mr. Photography in our new family Lincoln Navigator (if we win the lotto- price is $77,000). All 3 of us agreed we just love this vehicle. And it fits the hockey bag!!! The important stuff, as Dawson says.

Below is a lexus--- something????? All I know for sure is the price tag -$100,000.00. Brent didn't like it, UNTIL HE SAT IN IT! Then I had trouble getting him out. It sure is a fine vehicle, I must admit. Only if I had money.

We couldn 't afford the car above but managed to get a free bag from the same company!

Doesn't he just look smart in this one? He has always loved this car. The smart car - a car for a smart boy.

Rock Climbing

Up, up and away. Mr. Photography attended a birthday party. It was his first rock climbing party. He loved it. The parties they have today! It was pretty neat, I must admit. (He is wearing the blue shirt.)

His First Performance

At Mr. Photography's school they were lucky enough to have a fabulous group come and do some Acting/Drama with the kids. The performance cost me $1.00 to watch and I must say it was well worth the money and more. Mr. Photography's part in the play was a buffalo. His part was soooo funny. He was so talented at it too!

Here they are taking the brains out of the buffalo.

Here--- they just had killed the buffalo.

Look behind the hoops, there is my little buffalo going -ahhhhhhhhh. (his big vocal part of the play.) He was captured by the hunters.
I don't think we will ever see him on Broadway or in the movies but his performance was worth a special dairy queen treat at the end of the night!

WOW - it was so much fun!

A little pre olympic meal at McDonalds as we waited for the torch to arrive in the park. It seems like we weren't the only ones who had this thought. McDonalds was so busy, the line for food & coffee, was going out the door!!!!
Security--- could been seen high above.

EH - OH- CANADA - GO! We cheered and waved our flags.

For all of 3 seconds she walked by us with a wave, a smile and the torch. It was soooo worth it! We believe. Go Canada!!!!!!
