Small Town Rink

Well this post brings me and Dawson such joy and excitement. He couldn't sleep on Friday night. Our first hockey road trip. (Even though it was only 20 minutes down the highway.) What a nice arena. Dawson said it was so cold on the ice, his toes froze. We get the opportunity to go again this weekend and we will throw on some thicker socks for Dawson's feet this time, Brent will wear long underwear and I will bring a blanket. Oh yeah, we lost our game 3-2! J.

One Big Bear

Here is my little guys with his Teddy Bear for one of his favorite events the Regina Pats hold. It is called Teddy Bear toss . When the pats score their first goal everyone tosses their bear out onto the ice. They are all collected and the Pats then give them out to the children who are sick in the hospital. It took Dawson 3 tries to get his bear over the glass. If you look close you can see his bear on the ice. j.

Brent's Aunt and Uncle

For my family back home, I've posted this photo. They often hear us speak of Brent's Aunt and Uncle. I managed to capture this great photo of them and their granddaughter. We will be spending Christmas at their house this year. I am sure it will be a great day had by all. J.

Cars PJ's

Wow. Does he ever look tall in these pjs. Another gift from the care parcel. Thanks again. He enjoyed everything in the box. J.
Hmm, I just noticed in the last post, I said Dawson "reovered". I meant to write recovered. You probably gathered that. But just for the record, he has recovered well, so far. J.

The Best Robe Ever!

As you can see my little boy reovered well from his surgery on Friday. He is seen here on Sunday with his new robe on. He absolutely loves it!!! Thank you to all my aunts and grandma who sent that wonderful care parcel. j.

Happy 7th Birthday

Where does time go? I cannot believe this bundle of joy is now 7 years old? I can still remember the first day he was born - actually it was evening when he was born. Wow. So many memories and exciting times in the last 7 years somehow cross my memory on this date. Happy Birthday Son. (He does read evey posting you know!)

The Wild Party

OMG! What a hairy afternoon this was. It was Dawson's first "friend" birthday party. It was at gymnastic center. There were 11 boys and 1 girl, who attended. It was loud, busy and fun!!! Dawson had a great time with some of the boys from his class. In this pic - they all have foam cubes btw their legs and are going to play a game of tag. (Instead of running- they have to jump.)

Watch out for trains!!

Happy Halloween. Here is my little railway crossing.
He was so excited that he found this costume on the net
and hoped we could make it at home. So ta da!!! It was a great halloween night. Dawson enjoyed trick or treating and giving out candy when we got home.

Treat Bags

This post is for my Aunt Carol. Here is my treat
bag for the kids on my street. Since we are not
home on halloween, I give some kids we know
these little treat bags. Inside is an eyeball, bat,
Wendy's frosty coupon, an orange & black ballon and a bit size chocolate. Hope the kids enjoy.

Ghost in the Window

This really does look like a ghost. Even I get scared when walking by--- in the daylight. CREEPY!!!! Same house as the photo below.
Dawson says he will go to this house and trick or treat. What he doesn't know is that a guy dresses up ( in some sort of weird costume )and answers the door. I sense a nightmare going to happen.

SPOOOOKY House!

This is a house on our street. As you can see the
halloween decorations are wild. It scares many
of the kids. When the school bus stops after school, all the kids go over to one side of the bus and check out all the decorations. The people who live here are extremely friendly, I must say.

Missed target???

This poor witch is all I can say! I don't know whether she flew into the ground or was that wicked witch from Oz---- that melted ? I hope she just she just missed her target. Anyway she gave me a good laugh.

UMMMM!!!!

Doesn't this face seem happy with this baked goodie, before even tasting my creation? This tasty treat is Pumpkin Cheesecake. It is so easy to make. A great big thank you to Darlene (Brent's Aunt), for hosting a lovely thanksgiving supper. She also found this recipe and served it for dessert. I had to come home and bake one myself. My son was so happy to be the first tester - can you tell??? j.

MIA

Or at least I feel it! I 've been so busy these last 2 weeks, it is driving me nuts. Things have been crazy with hockey and it has only started!! School---- well I hate school- I hate reading, spelling and that is just the easy stuff. I've been busy starting the halloween costume for the boy, and making treat bags. And now I have to follow up on the birthday party stuff for Dawson. So look for another posting on the weekend. Things should slow down by then. Jen.

Don't Be Scared!!!!

This is what my house looks like these days. We have some beautiful halloween decorations if front. Of course these cute-- little ghostie guys will blow away down the street before halloween arrives! (With the strong SK winds that blow.)
But you must admit I've tried.
Stay tuned for some great photos of halloween treats I will be making!!! J.

The Most Beautiful Tree

This is the only tree with leaves still on it, these days in SK!!This is the outside of the grade 2 classroom . I thought it was so cute. I needed to post it! Dawson's leaf is in the middle of the tree. Neatly printed of course. (Proud mom moment.) School is going well for Dawson. I can't believe he starts his second month already? Only 8 more till summer holidays..... j.

The Big Entry

I am surprised this shot turned out. I took it as tears started to fill my eyes. You see many moms crying as their children start school, of course their children are in kindergarten or grade one! But no; there was me, tears filling my eyes and a lump in my throat. Don't worry Dawson didn't see. He smiled away and we waved goodbye to each other. He was so excited not to be the smallest in his class this year. Look at the little girl in front of him, she is the smallest, he now holds title of being the 2nd smallest. To end this entry - the first week of grade 2 went well. He loves his class and teacher. I am lonely without him at home during the day. Oh well, time for me to get a job. j.

Grade 2

I cannot believe it. I really don't like this day, out of all days
of the calendar year. I find myself sad and excited in a way
that is hard to explain!!! (Ahh, I won't get to mushy on everyone.) Here is my son all ready to begin his grade 2 year. He is so happy today.

T'was The Night Before School

Here Dawson is on August 28th. Loading all of his school supplies into the backpack. He was so excited to be starting school. Lets hope it last.

Last of the summer holidays

Our last day of summer 2007 together. What a great summer we had. So many adventures and happy times, we sure won't forget. For our last day of summer, Dawson and I enjoyed an afternoon filled with games at chuckie cheese and a wonderful lunch at Boston Pizza.

Enjoying his holiday

One McHappy boy. j.

Cannonball!!!!

Isn't it funny when shots don't really turn out?
This is Dawson doing a cannonball. Lets bet somewhere
in his lifetime he wins a cannonball contest!!! j.

Slide baby Slide!

This shot isn't very clear; however, my little boy has no fear with his life jacket on. If you click on the photo it will enlarge and you can really see the expression on his face!Down he went. He had so much fun. He was so proud of himself. His first big water slide. By the end of the 4 days he was going down with no life jacket. j.

Lovely Waterfront

And nice parking lot too!!! It wasn't until I posted
this photo on the blog, did I really notice this parking lot took up so much of the photo. This shot was to show the great bridges and the missouri river that runs through town. The bridge connects Bismarck and Mandan (the twin city). This waterfront is great. It was so relaxing and not really used by the locals. j.

HELLO BISMARCK!!

Well, Brent wanted to take a little holiday- as he had not really
had any summer holidays yet. So he convinced me to go to
Bismarck North Dakota. Never in my life would I have thought I would have a great time. It was absolutely beautiful and SO much fun. I cannot wait to go back. Here is the water park that was in our hotel. We stayed 4 nights here, for $58.00 Canadian a night. (Can't beat that!) This was view from the 3rd floor of the hotel. I sat on the balcony and took photos while the guys shot down all the water slides. j.

Two Silly Boys

Yes, this is what the boys looked like for 2 weeks. Most of the time they were happy and having fun. Full of smiles, laughs, and doing silly things. Dawson enjoyed Will's company so much--- he is still talking about him to this day!!!J.

The Big Red Chair

We sure did have a fun time at Marineland. Here you can see Aunt Teri with the 2 boys.

Granny and Dawson

Just had to put this photo on. I really like it. My gram is looking great for 80 - ish. J.

Summer 2

Here is a photo of my Uncle Joe. He is holding Kate's new chinese baby doll. I think this photo shows Uncle Joe's funny side. He is always doing silly things to make me laugh. I love Uncle Joe and Aunt Liz!!!

Toronto Trip

Our trip to Toronto and area this summer was so wonderful. Dawson and I have a great time and will remember our summer for some time to come. Most of the photos I've taken are of family members. The first photos is of Grandma Bea and Grandpa Ort=both in their 80s. It was great to see both of them again. The Geiger Family got together for a family picnic in Stratford, where they do the Festival in the park. It was a beautiful day!!!j.

Big Contest

At the police open house they had this contest. How many Regina Roughrider's can fit into a police officer's school resource car. (It is a Averio?) They could use the trunk of the car and the windows were open. The answer to this question your wondering. Well so are we? Only 6 Roughriders showed up and then they needed people from the public to help fill the car. 14 people filled the car. However the funny thing was, look how close the car is to the ground with everyone inside. It just kept getting weight down. Dawson's guess was 9. He didn't win the prize bucket. But we both thought the contest was a hoot!j.

Spiderman-NOT!!!

This week Dawson and I attended the local police station open house. Here- we see a special unit officer scaling the wall of the police station. Police are very cool to him these days. It wasn't until we started to see the police officer that is hooked up with his school at Tim Horton's--- that he became interested in Police officers. He was actually deathly scared of them. Just for the record all schools here have a liaison officer. Our is--- Constable Brad. j.

Bee Stings - Ouch!!!

Hi

What a wonderful Saturday I've had. I started off the am by not having to go to work. We tried to go to 5 different places for a nice breakfast but that didn't work out. We ended up grabbing a coffee and muffin - oh well - at least I wasn't at work. Then we attended this Cathedral Village Arts Festival. Dawson paid $2 for this lovely hat. It is a balloon bee. Of course Brent and I got bee stings for the rest of the am. It was actually a good festival. Dawson thought the belly dancers where embarrassing!!!! I though---- gosh, I might have a new career???? (I can actually be in style with my extra 30LBS.) Brent wasn't too amused!!! The weather is a lovely 15C. What a great Sat. Well off for a bike ride now. J.

Mother's Day

This lovely Mother's day creation was done by Dawson. Along with the instructions not to water as they fake flowers. Thanks for that info son! I had a wonderful Mother's day, of course that is once I got home from work.
Hope all mothers reading this had a nice day too. j.

Weekend Warrior

Well this is how we spent the weekend. Dawson was admitted into hospital for dehydration. On Friday afternoon he stopped drinking, peeing and was having trouble breathing, toppping it all off with a fever of 104F - all due to this virus which is in his throat and jaws. He stayed there for 2 nights and was miserable the whole time. The only thing that made him smile was to play XBox. He is home now and very croupy. But he is drinking and eating. In a couple of days he will get his voice his back. All is good now. j.

It's Been A Long Time!

This is what has been keeping me busy for the last
4 days. Dawson has been sick with a virus where his temp has been stuck at 103F. We ended up taking him to ER last night and the doctor said there that is very common for kids and should only last 5 days and then disappear. Poor thing, he has a headache most of the time, sore throat and when he coughs he chokes on the junk in his throat.(That is the part that scares me the most. ) So today is day 4!!! Thank goodness b/c I am so sleep deprived. Tomorrow I go to work and Brent will stay home with him for the morning. He hasn't been sick like this for almost 3 years. Wow. Hurry up and get better Dawson - this is no fun. j.

Stylin'

It seems grade one has introduced Dawson into the world of fashion. He thought he was cool wearing his hat like this. (Not my idea of cool, but oh well!) j.

The Windy City

This is what I came home too last Thursday.
Regina was under wind warnings all day. The wind topped 65KM an hour. (Not uncommon for our city.) But the good news is Brent and I nailed the missing piece back up when he came home that night. j.

Enjoying the warm weather

Yes, here in SK we have been enjoying the warm weather. As you can see D is enjoying a nice afternoon with the temp at 20C, playing baseball in the backyard. Sorry I haven't updated the blog in a while- time flies. Our trip to Calgary was nice and relaxing. The weather was horrible, with snowfall warnings 2 days while we were there. But it was nice to just relax. I will be changing my blog appearance in the next couple of days, so stay tuned. J.

The Stanley Cup

OK, maybe not. But to Dawson this bobble head trophy from hockey is his pride and joy. Yes, hockey is over for another season. Dawson played 2 -45 minute games back to back on Sunday and he scored 8 goals. Wow! He was so happy and so were his parents. We went out to celebrate a great hockey season and he had a plate of "noodles and butter!" He must be a true hockey player? J.

Not Recommended!

Just wanted to let you all know; the Blogging for Dummies, was a waste of time. It shows how to start a blog with a variety of blog host sites. Lets hope that the next couple of books I read are better than this one!!! j.

Big purchase this week!

Yes, we finally have purchased these hard to get die cast cars from the Movie-Cars! My 6 year old absolutely loves everything to do with that Movie! The chick hicks car is missing as Dawson carries it with him everywhere he goes. These cars are sold out at Toys R Us the same afternoon they are put on the shelf! I must say they are so cute. Dawson would say they are so cool!!!

New Book for Me

I am so enjoying keeping this blog for everyone, I have decided to read about doing more stuff with my blog. So here is the first book I got from the library. I am really enjoying the blogosphere! ( It is sucking me in.) j

Forward Only

Here he is! This is Dawson decked out in his Pats jersey (our local whl team). He just finished his power skating class. He is getting really good at skating. Today he scored 2 goals and got 2 stolen away from him at the last minute. He can stop, skate backward, and do cross overs. A proud mom would say he is the best on the team!! And believe it or not Dawson put forth 110% today and was on fire. It is a long story but Dawson doesn't always try his best out there. However he still has fun at the end of the day!! It is so funny because Dawson will not cross the centre line, he doesn't dig for the puck/ help out the goalie. He only plays forward position. He is so goal hungry, he doesn't care if he scores or assists. But no interest at all in goalie or defense. Glad to add-- that Brent's back is doing well these days and he is back at work now. J.

My Many Jobs

Here I am in doing the laundry at the hotel. That is what I do on Monday and Tuesday . It is actually fun. The work is so hard and gross. You probably couldn't imagine what I seen on the hotel linen. I have gotten out all kinds of stains!!! Of course I am wearing latex gloves when dealing with dirty linen. I work with another girl who is around my age and she is so funny. However she will be going on mat leave in May. Hopefully I will resume her position but no guarantees? Well believe it or not I have to go and do our own laundry now. j.

One big Moose

Hey Welcome to Moose Jaw, SK. Yes, down the road about an hour from Regina, you will meet this friendly guy. The town of Moose Jaw's population is 32,000. It is the home of The Temple Gardens Mineral Spa and to the whl hockey team- Moose Jaw Warriors. Dawson and I travelled to MJ - to see his adopted owl. The grade one class adopted a burrowing owl, after doing a study on these owls. His owl is named trooper. Unfortunately Tropper being such a superstar, he was on tour in a little town south of Regina called Estevan. Tropper will return to Moose Jaw again in the summer and we will visit him then. I will take a picture of him then and post for sure. That's all for now folks. j.

Here I Am!!!!

Here is Jen B/Fast, as I am referred to at work. This is me, holding my longest job in 2 years. I have now officially been working for 4 months and have gotten my first raise. Where does time go? Still enjoying my job and have taken on more hours. I will post another photo of me this week doing some other jobs at the hotel!!! By the way those fruit loops are one of the popular choices at my breakfast bar!!!! J.

BRRRR!

Well as you can see, no kids on the playground. The temp here this past week has been -30C and colder! At -25C the kids have indoor recess. All of last week the kids didn't get to play outside at all. It is forecasted that on Thursday, we will reach a temp of 0C. Hopefully this week the kids will play outside. Dawson is dying to play in the snow. Lets just hope that killer windchill doesn't kick in. I hope everyone stays warm.
