Gingerbread House 2012

On Saturday K & D attempted to make a gingerbread house!  And it turned out wonderful!  The 3 of us each had jobs.  K- She was the "icer"  she put the icing on the house,  D- he put the candy and grass on the on the house/lawn, and  J- she was the "massager" - she massaged the icing so the icing was ready for the "icer".  We all added candies and helped with the decorating!  And Santa even came to this house! Happy Holiday everyone!

Re Surfaced!

After a short break I am back by request!   Okay, so things you should know:

D's volleyball team won the City Championships- look at that trophy!  I would have posted more photos of volleyball however every time I took out the camera the team started losing.  The goodness was that D's team not only won the gold medal they were also undefeated all season (that would be all 12 games) But hooray for them eh?
Until later peeps.  (Off to Costco now for dinner - talk about 5 star meal!)

Baseball is Over

Well The A's placed 4th at the Western Championship this year. And ball is now officially over till Winter Camp in November. Here is a young man that came to our team as a pick up for Western's. He is 13 years old -5"11, & 180lbs of muscle. He won the home run derby contest at Western's. He is projected to go to the far in the baseball world, in the future. (He has lightning speed.) But most importantly- he was such an overall nice young man. And of course in front of him, our own heavy weight- D!! 11 years old -- 4"8, 80lbs !!! This age group can have the most difference in height and weight. It was so funny to look at the two boys together.

Favorite Wineries

While in the Oliver area and my son was busy at camp during the day, Brent and I had some time to ourselves to go and sample some of the wine from the region. Here are two wineries that I enjoyed. The first was burrowing owl- it's wines were ok, I liked the place because in D's grade one class- we adopted a burrowing owl, as a class. But what was more astonishing was the resort you could stay at here. (For approx.$300/night.) It would be so tranquil, relaxing and not crowded as you can imagine. Oh, to be rich.

Now for my new favourite wine. Gehringer Brothers Wines. May I recommend (being the wine connoisseur I am) the Auxerrois (white wine.) Tasty, tasty !!! Brent and I debated on whether to get one or two bottles, it was that appealing to us.
While waiting for Brent and Dawson to arrive in Kelowna, I went to the Grey Monk Winery and picked up some average inexpensive red wine too. Now, I just need some good company to come and enjoy a glass of wine with us!

For CLR

Here is the native winery that you had heard about on the radio. It is a beautiful property. They have the most luxurious resort that I will consider staying at next time, if in the area. Went wine tasting at this this winery, however, I didn't end up buying a bottle of wine to take home.

A quote by the Chief. I think you mentioned this, when we were chatting about this winery.
Putting a face to a name. Chief Clarence.
Next posting - I will show my 2 favourite cellars we visited.

Now this is summer

We arrived safetly in Oliver BC, for D's baseball camp. It is so beautiful down here. Lakes everywhere. Lots of sunshine and you know what that that means, HOT HOT HOT! If your missing summer where you live, come down here. The temp ranges from 30-37C and man, that is warm.
So we dropped D off at camp and have been enjoying the scenery and visiting two wineries, swimming and enjoying the beach.
Oliver's beach! Oh so nice. (I still enjoy a pool myself.) Guess I am not a beach girl.
Here are Pee Wee Provincial Champions in the NEON orange shirts.
I have a couple more photos tomorrow.
