100% Maybe?

Here is D's social project for school.  The project was to be on someone / something with Canadian roots attached to it. So this was what D choose and presented it to his class/teacher and got 100%, so his paper said.  The teacher never gave the actual mark to him yet.  So lets hope.  But I thought  i'd share it with you all at this time.

There is a fair on Thursday and judges come around and give another mark to the kids too.  Hopefully he does well.

One of the prizes is a chapters gift card.  I think someone has his eyes on that!

THE SKIPPER!

Well as you can see there is a new "weight loss ticker" on my blog now.  Yes, after 12 1/2  years of getting heavier, I am going to try my best at losing some weight.  Anytime anyone wants to encourage me with positive words /comments - please go ahead.( I need all the positive motivation I can gather up.)  I didn't realize how out of shape I am .  It is funny in a way, because I do not see myself as the  person the mirror reflects.  I still think of myself as someone in  relatively in good shape and a pant size 12.( Actually I think I have avoided looking in mirrors at myself for the past 10 years.) But not anymore.  And I should mention that I am mortified by what I see.  So, now is the time!

My first two days of food journalling have been successful, meaning,  that I am writing down what  I am eating.  I have blown the allotted calories by going over 200 calories each day and no exercise to boot!  So a little more improvement is needed in this category.  I don't understand food sometimes.  I can eat a bowl of oatmeal for 160 calories or  a Caesar salad for 90 calories?  Well put me down for 1 caesar salad for breakfast and one for lunch then!  Who wants oatmeal anyway?  A homemade medium sized bran muffin- you'd think healthy- right?  WRONG! That little homemade morsel of joy is a whopping 186 calories.  Yikes--- I had 3 in the last 24 hours.  Well come-on it is bran, it came out the other end already!!!! Goodness me  it is very easy to throw your diet out the window and become part of the bad habits club.  As it looks right now, I have the platinum membership to that club.  I guess I will just have to work harder on the diet part.

Now, onto the exercise part.  I walked 20 minutes on the treadmill at a good beginners pace the other day.  When I finished I did some light stretching and my poor legs were so wobbly.  But I did it!!!! This morning I thought I'd grab the skipping rope and head down to the dudgeon (basement) playlist/ i pod in hand- i was ready to burn some serious calories.  I was a good skipper when we lived on Spencely Court! My Papa even told me so!  Well that "good skipper" was, gone!  Dead!!!!   I could only skip 24 times continuously before stopping and gasping for air.  I mean gasping for air.  Maybe it is a bad exercise day for me?   And I only lasted skipping rope for 10 minutes before I gave up.  So that means ---I just have to skip for another 2 more 10 minutes sessions to make my day successful in the exercise department.

Well I know I haven't gotten off to the greatest start, but I am going to keep trying.  I mean I have to start somewhere.  So off I go now for another 10 minutes skipping session.  Try and get a session in before D comes home from school.

Valentine's Day 2013

Valentine's Day- we don't really do anything too wild to celebrate it.  I woke up nice and early and made my little valentine pancakes.  He didn't really dig them or think they were cool this year, however Puppy thought they were great.  (Inside joke there for those of you who know about "puppy").

And in the afternoon I whipped up some wonderful raisin cookies for my big valentine!  He loves raisin cookies and I've never made them for him.  He said they turned out great.  However the batch is so big, he should have raisin cookies to last him till next valentine's day.  There was no yield in the recipe. Nor did I think the recipe was large by any means? But we have at least 50 cookies.

And how did we finish the day of love?  Don't stop reading here, its not what you think?

We went to Boston Pizza for a heart shaped pizza!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Basketball 2013

As most of you know, D has made the basketball team at school.  Unfortunately they haven't won a game, however I must Friday's game was somewhat competitive for them. A few glitches on our team that need to be worked out and I am sure we will have our first win under our belt.  Our little man (D) is becoming quite the basketball player.  He absolutely loves the game although he isn't great at it.  But give him some time and instruction and he could be a strong worthy player.  Or maybe this is a phase?
Here are some photos from Friday's game:

What a Warrior!

It was 6 years after he was born,  he got his first mole on his face.  In grade 5 he tried to pick if off because the kids were making fun it at school.  His little face was a mess.  Then out of nowhere turn up these 2 little spider angiomas- broken capillaries.  They would become very little in the warm weather but appear again, very big,  in colder weather.  D's always hated these things on his face. So long story short, after visiting 2 dermatologist who wouldn't do anything about these things, we finally found a dermatologist who was eager to help D and his appearance ---being important especially now that  he is in junior high. Yesterday, D overcame his first go with  "laser cosmetic surgery".  He was so very nervous however the whole thing took only 1 minute for both spots to be lasered off.  He didn't cry, flinch or jump and didn't even know the procedure was over.  We had to tell him a couple times it was all done.  And then a big smile.  He said it didn't even hurt.  Now a couple of days of purple/red spots and then they should fall off/disappear and then only a small mole left on his face.  At this time, he has decided to leave the mole with no treatment, on the advice of the doctor and nurse.  This is D after his treatment.  Only slight swelling and purplish marks.  Nothing big!

So True!

Especially from a dieters stand point!

Ha!
